Gordon Ringold, Ph.D.
Dr. Gordon Ringold serves as the Executive Chairman at Maverix Biomics and was a founding independent board member for the company. Dr. Ringold is also Executive Chairman of Alavita Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a co-founder and director of Maxygen and Alexza Pharmaceuticals, and a director of 3V Biosciences. He has served as chairman and CEO of SurroMed, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on novel biomarker discovery, and CEO of Glaxo-Wellcome Group’s Affymax Research Institute, where he managed the development of novel technologies to accelerate the pace of drug discovery. Previously a professor of pharmacology at Stanford University, he is currently director of Silicon Valley Initiatives at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Andrew T. Yang, Ph.D.
Andrew Yang co-founded Apache Design Solutions specializing in energy-efficient design software for mobile semiconductor ICs and served as CEO since its inception in 2001. Apache was rated one of the fastest growing software IT companies in North America both in 2008 and 2009 by Deloitte and was acquired by Ansys Corp. in 2011. Dr. Yang served as president of the Apache subsidiary and vice president and general manager of ANSYS from 2011 to 2014.
Andrew Yang was an early-round lead investor in over 10 companies and many of them were acquired by scale-driven public companies that were looking for deeper expertise in design automation of semiconductor devices. Dr. Yang was a tenured professor at the University of Washington from 1989 to 1996. and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1983 and 1989, respectively.
Andrew Yang received the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Louis G. Lange, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Lou Lange has 22 years experience in academic medicine at Harvard and Washington University, where he served as Chief of Cardiology and Professor of Medicine at Jewish Hospital from 1985-1992 and was one of the first academicians in molecular cardiology. He founded CV Therapeutics, Inc. in 1990 and as Chairman, CEO and Chief Scientific Officer, led CV Therapeutics, Inc.’s initial public offering in 1996 and the overall pipeline development and the initiatives for U.S. FDA and European EMEA approval for Ranexa, a late sodium channel blocker. He also led the approval of Lexiscan, an adenosine A2a receptor agonist for use in myocardial perfusion imaging studies. Dr. Lange oversaw CV Therapeutics, Inc. and its sale to Gilead Sciences Inc. in 2009 for $1.4 billion dollars. As a member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Rochester since 1998 and as Chair of the Health Affairs committee that oversaw all of the medical operations, Dr. Lange has been part of the leadership team for strategic re-invigoration of the medical center with construction of two research buildings and recruitment of over 100 faculty members. Dr. Lange served as a member of the board of directors of CV Therapeutics, Inc. from 1990 to 2009, BIO from 1999 to 2009, Maxygen, Inc. from 2006 through 2013 and Esperion Therapeutics, Inc. from 2010 to 2014. Dr. Lange has been a General Partner at Asset Management since 2009; remains a senior advisor to Gilead Sciences Inc. and serves on numerous other Boards in both the non-profit and for-profit arena.
Todd M. Lowe, Ph.D.
Dr. Todd Lowe serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Maverix Biomics and was a co-founder of Maverix. Dr. Lowe is Professor of Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His expertise and research includes experimental and computational genomics, non-coding RNA gene finders, high-throughput small RNA sequencing for gene discovery, and understanding small RNA roles in cancer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Williams College and doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University.
